Marseille: Abdelli injury scare already forgotten before Troyes!

Crutches. A sore left ankle. And a whole club holding its breath. Himad Abdelli went down during Algeria’s 2-2 draw in Burundi on Tuesday, September 29, in AFCON 2027 qualifying, and Bruno Genesio had every reason to worry. Except the nightmare didn’t last.

Footage of Saturday’s session, posted by the Algerian national team on social media, shows the midfielder back in full training with the Desert Foxes, just days after he was spotted on crutches. According to FootballClubdeMarseille, he wasn’t even limited to individual work. In other words, no need to panic, at least for now.

A key man Marseille cannot lose

The relief in Marseille is easy to understand. The former Angers man has already logged 470 minutes this season, according to Foot01, and the international break has left its mark on Genesio’s squad, with Derek Cornelius suffering a hip injury described as serious by But!.

Before thinking about Troyes, there is still Algeria vs Niger, a friendly on Tuesday. Then comes the trip to Troyes on Sunday, October 11 (8:45pm CET), closing out Ligue 1 Matchday 6. A game the Algeria international should be fit for, barring another setback.
