Rangers: Bouanani opens his account with a screamer before the Fennecs!

Badredine Bouanani, the Algerian winger loaned by Stuttgart to Glasgow Rangers, scored his first official goal for the Scottish club in the 2-2 draw at Dundee. A curling strike into the top corner.

Starting for only the second time in the league this season, Badredine Bouanani, the 21-year-old Algerian international right winger, scored for the first time in a Glasgow Rangers shirt, on the pitch at Dundee. The Scottish club and their opponents cancelled each other out 2-2 on matchday 9 of the Scottish Premiership, reports Foot Afrique.

The equaliser was Bouanani’s, in the 40th minute. According to Al Mounasser, the VfB Stuttgart loanee recovered his own blocked shot before curling a left-footed strike that ended up in the top corner.

A goal to step out of the shadows

The goal could change the player’s daily life. Before this match, he had not yet scored in the league in this shirt, and had been named in the starting line-up only once before this season.

Selected by Derek McInnes, the Rangers manager, the right winger seized his chance against Dundee. His goal in the 40th minute revived his team, who ultimately settle for a 2-2 draw and bring an end to a run of seven consecutive wins in the Scottish league, according to X-TremLimit.

Behind this first goal lies the journey of a player seeking to establish himself outside France. Signed by VfB Stuttgart from OGC Nice, according to Transfermarkt and Wikipédia, Bouanani now plays in Glasgow on loan, at the age of 21.

Fennecs in sight

Bouanani’s individual success comes at an interesting time for the Fennecs. According to Fennec Football, this goal gives the player a boost a few weeks before the Algerian national team’s decisive November gathering against Togo, a fixture he approaches with a first club goal to his name.

The outlet does not say whether the winger will be in the squad list for that gathering, and the available facts do not allow it to be confirmed. The goal at Dundee nonetheless provides an extra argument a few weeks before that meeting.

A busy schedule ahead

Rangers will soon return to Scottish Premiership action for matchday 10, an opportunity for Bouanani to confirm his good form and earn a more regular starting place in Derek McInnes’s squad. For now, this goal remains his first official strike in this shirt.

On the national team side, the Algeria squad gathering is scheduled for early November 2026, before the match against Togo.
