Wydad Athletic Club have reportedly reached an agreement with Tunisian coach Nasreddine Nabi to take charge of the first team. According to Mosaique FM, the coach travelled to Morocco this Wednesday to sign his contract, which is due to be made official in Casablanca.
The Moroccan club have reached an agreement with Nasreddine Nabi to take charge of the first team, according to Mosaique FM, citing informed sources. The news was reported this Wednesday, 21 October 2026, in the late afternoon, and the Tunisian coach travelled to Morocco in person the same day to sign his contract. The formal signing and official announcement are expected in the coming hours in Casablanca.
The appointment comes as Wydad go through a major sporting crisis. The club have only one win after four rounds of the Botola Pro, a very disappointing start to the season. The WAC management want to act quickly to halt the negative spiral and revive their domestic and continental ambitions. The coach chosen previously managed their great rivals, Raja Casablanca, until the start of September 2026.
A track record on the continent
Nasreddine Nabi is no stranger to Africa. He made his name by leading Tanzanian club Young Africans to the final of the CAF Confederation Cup. He had previously coached Kaizer Chiefs, with whom he won the South African Cup in 2025, as well as AS FAR in Morocco.
His Moroccan experience is not limited to AS FAR. He has just come from a spell at Raja Casablanca, whom he managed until the start of September 2026. So it is a return to Morocco, but this time at the rivals of his last club.
A spell at the great rivals
Nasreddine Nabi’s move from Raja to Wydad is notable, as the two Casablanca clubs are rivals. The Tunisian coach already knows the Moroccan league and must now take on the challenge of a club in difficulty after four rounds of the Botola Pro.
Wydad have therefore chosen a coach who has already been through two Moroccan clubs, AS FAR and Raja, to revive a season that has started badly, while their domestic and continental ambitions remain on display.
Contract details and staff still pending
The contract details and the make-up of Nasreddine Nabi’s future technical staff are being finalised in Casablanca, according to Mosaique FM.
The formal signing, announced for the coming hours in Casablanca, is due to make official the Tunisian coach’s appointment at the head of the first team.
