AS Monaco beat SC Freiburg 3-0 in the Conference League, with Senegalese defender Sadibou Sané starting in central defence and a goal from Lamine Camara. The Monégasques, already winners over CSKA Sofia, must now host Lille.
At the Stade Louis-II, the principality club won 3-0 against SC Freiburg on matchday 2 of the Conference League, according to Dsports sn. In the heart of defence, Senegalese centre-back Sadibou Sané, 22, was handed a start by Filipe Luís and delivered a first-rate defensive display.
Central midfielder Lamine Camara doubled the lead in the 83rd minute, before Ansu Fati scored the third in stoppage time. Two different scorers after Paris Brunner, whose goal broke the deadlock in first-half stoppage time.
Sané: eight clearances and a clean sheet
Deployed in central defence alongside his teammates, Sadibou Sané produced a clean sheet of his own. Dsports sn reports eight defensive clearances for the 22-year-old centre-back, capped by another clean sheet. The principality club did not concede.
It took until the 45th+2 minute to see Paris Brunner open the scoring, after a sombrero over Maximilian Rosenfelder, according to SeneNews. Freiburg’s resistance was broken just before the break.
Filipe Luís, Monaco’s head coach, opted for a 4-2-3-1 with Camara and Edan Diop in the double pivot, according to Bénin Web TV.
Camara finishes it off, Fati seals it
The second goal came from Lamine Camara, who pounced on a saved shot from Ansu Fati, SeneNews reports. He thus joins the list of Monaco scorers on the night, after Brunner.
Ansu Fati completed the job in stoppage time, in the 91st minute, according to OneFootball. Three goals, three different scorers.
Monaco are part of the select group of eight sides with 6 points from two Conference League matches, OneFootball notes. On matchday 1, the Monégasques had already won 2-1 on the pitch at CSKA Sofia, according to SeneNews. Two wins from two, then.
Lille on Sunday, and what comes next
Lamine Camara is not dwelling on it: “Turn the page quickly and focus on the matches to come,” he told AS Monaco. Monaco are now preparing for a major domestic clash in the French league, according to LOSC.FR.
The visit of LOSC Lille is set for Sunday 25 October 2026 at 15:00 at the Stade Louis-II, on matchday 8 of Ligue 1.
