Tottenham: Marmoush fit for derby, De Zerbi gets his striker back!

  • Egypt, EN

Roberto De Zerbi, Tottenham’s head coach, confirmed on Friday that Omar Marmoush is available for the derby at Stamford Bridge, where Spurs, 16th in the Premier League, face Chelsea on Saturday. The Egyptian opened his account on Monday against Coventry.

Omar Marmoush is fit to play. At his press conference on Friday 23 October 2026 at Hotspur Way, Roberto De Zerbi announced the medical green light for the 27-year-old Egyptian international striker, who came off injured on Monday evening during the 3-1 win over Coventry City. Football London reports that Spurs’ medical staff confirmed his availability.

De Zerbi also gave an update on the rest of the squad. Andy Robertson and Pedro Porro are available. James Maddison remains doubtful after missing several training sessions this week, while Destiny Udogie, Savio and Lucas Bergvall are officially ruled out and Rodrigo Bentancur will serve the second match of his suspension.

A return at the right time

De Zerbi’s statement, as reported by Football London, was brief: “Pedro is back. Robertson is available. Marmoush is good. Solanke is good. Lucas Bergvall and Savio out. Udogie out too. Bentancur suspended.” For Tottenham, the news matters all the more because the Egyptian broke his duck in a Spurs shirt on Monday 19 October against Coventry.

That 3-1 success had a special flavour: it was Tottenham’s first Premier League win of the season, on matchday 7, according to Football London. Having arrived this summer from Manchester City on loan with an obligation to buy, with the fee estimated at between €58m and £60m according to LiveScore and Foot-Africa, Marmoush scored his first goal for Spurs.

The medical staff therefore cleared three players, Marmoush, Robertson and Porro, for the trip, in a squad missing several members.

A challenge against a bogey team

The weekend’s opponents are no easy customers. Chelsea have won their last six meetings with Spurs in the Premier League, according to TOP Mercato.

The table before matchday 8 sharpens the contrast: Chelsea sit 4th with 13 points, while Tottenham are 16th with 6 points, according to West London Sport. In that context, the availability of Marmoush, Robertson and Porro offers Spurs a reason for hope. The uncertainty around Maddison, however, potentially deprives De Zerbi of an extra attacking option.

Rendezvous at Stamford Bridge

Chelsea v Tottenham kicks off on Saturday 24 October 2026 at 17:30 GMT at Stamford Bridge, on matchday 8 of the Premier League. Spurs will try to end Chelsea’s run of six straight league wins against them.

The report does not say whether Marmoush will start the match. The staff will also have to manage the uncertainty around Maddison and Bentancur’s absence in midfield.

For Marmoush, this derby will be a chance to confirm his arrival, five days after his first goal in a Tottenham shirt.
