Stade de Reims forward Ange Tia has scored in each of his first two caps for the Eagles of Mali. Djibril Sidibé, a former Mali international, praises his potential and advises him to stay at Reims.
Two caps, two goals. Ange Tia did not take long to make his mark with the Eagles of Mali. The 19-year-old forward found the net in each of his first two caps, in 2027 AFCON qualifying, Al Horria News reports.
That return has not gone unnoticed by Djibril Sidibé. The former Mali international believes the Reims man is among the best young players in French football, Ligue 1 and Ligue 2 combined, according to the same source. He does, however, advise him to stay at Reims for now.
A path forged in the youth ranks
Trained at the Africa Foot Elite academy, Ange Tia stood out with Mali’s 2023 U17 generation. He played there alongside Ibrahim Diarra “Kaka” (Barcelona) and Sekou Koné (Manchester United), according to Al Horria News.
With Reims, he has played 52 matches in all competitions, scoring 7 goals and providing 3 assists. For Djibril Sidibé, “he has a promising future and has come through all the youth levels of the Mali national team as you would expect”, Al Horria News reports.
Djibril Sidibé’s advice
In that context, the former Mali international calls for patience. He told Al Horria News: “The most important thing at 19 is to play regularly and keep improving before thinking about a big club.”
At Reims, he is a starter alongside his compatriots Daouda Guindo and Seydou Dembélé, again according to the Arab media outlet.
Several French and foreign clubs are reportedly tracking him, although the source names none of them.
Between the Eagles and Reims
Tia’s two goals came in 2027 AFCON qualifying. The next round of those qualifiers will be the player’s next outing with the Eagles.
Under contract with Reims until 30 June 2030, Ange Tia is valued at around €10 million by Transfermarkt.
