Valencia: Otorbi equalises at Santander, Newcastle send two emissaries

Brought on at El Sardinero, 18-year-old David Otorbi equalised for Valencia CF in the 2-2 draw with Racing Santander. According to Marca, Newcastle had dispatched two emissaries to the stands.

Two extra pairs of eyes were following the match from the stands at El Sardinero. According to Marca, relayed by AfricaFoot, Newcastle United had dispatched two emissaries to watch Spanish-Nigerian right winger David Otorbi during Racing Santander – Valencia CF (2-2).

The trip paid off. Brought on from the bench, the 18-year-old forward equalised by cutting inside through the middle following a pass from Javi Guerra, the Valencia midfielder, opening his account in La Liga this season in the process.

A contract until 2028

Nothing yet suggests the Magpies will make a move: at this stage, it is a simple scouting mission, attributed to Marca. No offer or negotiation is confirmed in this case.

On the Valencia side, the club has tied down its young winger. Otorbi signed a contract extension last April and is under contract until June 2028, with a market value set at 3.5 million euros on Transfermarkt.

Born to a Spanish-Nigerian background, the player has not expressed a preference for a national team. What comes next is being written at club level first: Valencia CF play matchday 9 of the Spanish league against Athletic Bilbao.
