Orlando Pirates: Ouaddou confirms Sebelebele out and hands Sigomoshe his chance!

Moroccan coach Abdeslam Ouaddou has confirmed that winger Kamogelo Sebelebele, injured in the MTN8 final, is out of the CAF Champions League first leg against African Stars. Bulelani Sigomoshe, a signing from Milford FC, has seized his chance.

Abdeslam Ouaddou, head coach of Orlando Pirates, gave a full medical update after his team’s 3-0 win over TS Galaxy. He announced that winger Kamogelo Sebelebele, injured in the MTN8 final, is officially out of the CAF Champions League first leg against Namibians African Stars, scheduled for this Saturday, 17 October 2026.

According to comments reported by Foot Africa, the Soweto club’s medical staff are keeping Sebelebele under close watch. The player is undergoing further tests.

An absence that opens doors

The coach explained: “For the Champions League, it is certain that I will not be able to use him, but we will see for the next matches whether we can count on him or not.” Ouaddou nevertheless hopes to have his winger back for the following fixtures in the Betway Premiership.

In Sebelebele’s absence, new signing Bulelani Sigomoshe, arrived from Milford FC, was thrown in at the deep end. A right-back, he celebrated his first start in the resounding 3-0 win over TS Galaxy. He played more than an hour and provided an assist.

Sigomoshe rewarded for his efforts

Ouaddou made a point of personally congratulating his player as he left the pitch. “When he came off, I simply congratulated him for his time on the pitch… he is a player with a fantastic mentality,” he told Foot Africa.

The coach explained that this start was a reward for the dedication and professionalism Sigomoshe has shown in training.

Target: the group stage

Orlando Pirates are preparing to take on African Stars on Saturday, 17 October 2026, in the first leg of the CAF Champions League second preliminary round, in Namibia. The Soweto club are aiming for a place in the group stage after an encouraging start to the season in the league.

Ouaddou hopes to have Sebelebele back for the following fixtures in the Betway Premiership.
